Tlilecuauhtli, it means dark eagle in Nahuatl (aztec language). Made this for a mini-challenge in gameartisans.org. The theme of the challenge was pirate portraits so I came up with this guy who was an Aztec eagle warrior who lived in the times of Spanish conquest and ended up becoming a pirate who hunts, kills and loots conquistadors and their ships.
The frame was also part of the challenge guidelines so I went ahead and made a fancy frame. It was a fun piece to make. Hope you like it.

Hey. I left a comment last year saying how much I loved this picture and how I wished you would set it up with deviant art so that I could buy it. Well I went ahead and bought a copy last month, a 16'' by 16''. I got it framed and gave it to my Dad for a birthday present. He really loves it as well and he greatly admired your technique and originality. In fact seeing this piece added to the family's ecletic "art wall" it got me wondering if you paint as well. And although I really love the print out I bought I was wondering if you would consider painting this picture for me. Having a canvas that I could hang on the wall, done by the original artist would mean so much. My family has basically fallen in love with this one. I don't know if you have the time or how we would set up how to pay or who to ship with and its not like I could pay thousands or even hundreds of dollars but I would really appreciate the opportunity to buy a painting of this from you. Please consider and let me know. Thanks!
Oh wow, I'm very happy to hear this and I'd love to have time... and traditional art supplies to do an analog version of this. Unfortunately I'm fully booked with digital work both 2d and 3d at the moment and possibly for the rest of the year. I would suggest checking if the canvas prints DA offers would be suitable. Other than that I can only thank you for your kind comments and buying the print. Perhaps in the future I'll take up oil painting again, I only did a bit of it in college.
Well thats OK, thanks for thinking about it anyway. And even if you don't do traditional painting please don't ever stop doing your thing because you have great talent. I wish you well!
